Three numbers to write down first
- Height
Floor to the underside of the cabinet or soffit above, on both sides of the opening.
- Width
Across the top, the middle and the bottom. Keep the smallest of the three.
- Depth
Back wall to the front face of the cabinets on either side.
Then note where the water line and outlet sit, and hold all of it against the maker’s rough opening before ordering.

Why would a repair site compare brands?
Because the opening outlasts the appliance. Fixed or replaced, a built-in has to suit the cabinetry built around it. We repair Sub-Zero, so the comparison pages look at openings, panels, ventilation and service access, rather than at showroom features and finishes.
What does the $89 visit include?
The trip and a diagnosis of the whole unit, both cooling systems on a dual-refrigeration model. You get one price for the repair before anything is done. Go ahead and the $89 is deducted from it; say no and the $89 is the entire bill.
Can a Designer column go where a Classic stood?
Not as a straight swap. Classic runs 30, 36, 42 and 48 in. wide with the grille on top; Designer runs 18, 24, 30 and 36 in. with the grille at the bottom and needs panels made for it. A wide Classic opening generally means a pair of columns and some cabinet work.
My Sub-Zero is under warranty. Who repairs it?
Sub-Zero’s warranty statement routes covered repairs through its own service network, so contact Sub-Zero first about anything covered. Once the two-year full and five-year sealed-system periods have ended, or for a fault the warranty excludes, call us and we repair it directly.
